Saddest Thing I Know by Cherry Poppin’ Daddies. This was Joe’s choice for us this week in the Weekly Song Challenge on Singeo. A band unknown to me. So lots and lots of listening and trying to capture the feeling of the song. Difficult because with jazz you don’t have much to hold on to. There was also no sheet music. But it was a fantastic song to learn. Thanks to fellow student Joe who introduced me to the Cherry Poppin’ Daddies.
Saddest Thing I Know des Cherry Poppin’ Daddies. C’était le choix de Joe pour nous cette semaine dans le Weekly Song Challenge sur Singeo. Un groupe que je ne connaissais pas. Alors, beaucoup, beaucoup d’écoute et d’essais pour capturer l’atmosphère de la chanson. Difficile parce qu’avec le jazz, on n’a pas grand-chose à quoi s’accrocher. Il n’y avait pas non plus de partition. Mais c’était une chanson fantastique à apprendre. Merci à Joe, un camarade étudiant, qui m’a fait découvrir les Cherry Poppin’ Daddies.

The ballad of the Witches road by Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Bobby Lopez for the Weekly Song Challenge on Singeo.com. Lisa had chosen a song related to Wicked, The Wizard of Oz etc. I searched on YouTube for songs with Wizards and Witches, and I found this one: The ballad of the Witches Road. I didn’t know it, but it seemed like a fantastic song to try singing. It turns out it’s from an existing series, Agatha all along. Maybe not exactly The Wizard of Oz, but wizards, wicked, witches, magic… it’s all related. Have fun!
J’ai cherché sur YouTube des chansons avec des sorciers et des sorcières (c’était la chanson de la semaine sur Singeo.com), et j’ai trouvé celle-ci : The ballad of the Witches Road. Je ne la connaissais pas, mais elle m’a semblé fantastique à chanter. Il s’avère que c’est tiré d’une série existante, Agatha all along. Peut-être pas tout à fait Le Magicien d’Oz, mais des sorciers, des sorcières, de la magie… tout est lié.
La mer
La mer by Charles Trenet was Joe’s choice for the Weekly Song Challenge on Singeo. I’ve chosen the music of Chantal Chamberland’s version. As La mer is on our programme for our next choir-concert it was a good opportunity for me to sing it in both the soprano version and the bass version. Not easy because the rhythm is different. I had to change key, and lowered and raised some parts. Hans has chosen to show sea memories of our life together this time.
La mer de Charles Trenet a été le choix de Joe pour le Weekly Song Challenge sur Singeo. J’ai choisi la musique de la version de Chantal Chamberland. Comme La mer est au programme de notre prochain concert avec la chorale, c’était une bonne occasion pour moi de la chanter à la fois en version soprano et en version basse. Pas facile car le rythme est différent. J’ai dû changer de tonalité, et baisser et relever certaines parties. Hans a choisi de montrer des souvenirs de la mer de notre vie ensemble cette fois.
Summertime
Summertime by Ella Fitzgerald. This week we could sing any Ella Fitzgerald song for the Weekly Song Challenge. I love Ella and it was a great joy to sing this one. Hans has chosen this time to use a generative algorithm for images based on the music for the video.
