My version of True by Spandau Ballet (1983, album True). Derek chose this song for our Song Challenge. It was written by the band’s guitarist and songwriter Gary Kemp, partly about his unrequited, platonic love for singer Clare Grogan of Altered Images, and partly as a tribute to soul great Marvin Gaye, you can clearly hear that Motown/soul inspiration in the song.
