Nowhere Man
Here’s my cover of Nowhere Man by The Beatles. It’s written mainly by John Lennon and released in 1965 on the album Rubber Soul. It was one of the first Beatles songs not about love or romance. Instead, it reflects Lennon’s feelings of isolation and uncertainty. The lyrics describe a man who lives in his own world, disconnected from reality “making all his nowhere plans for nobody.” (more…)
Life on Mars?
My cover of Life on Mars?, one of David Bowie’s most iconic songs (Hunky Dory, 1971). It tells the story of a young girl disillusioned with reality and the shallow nature of society, escaping into fantasy – into “the silver screen” and the question of whether there’s “life on Mars.” The lyrics are surreal and satirical, filled with disjointed snapshots of modern culture, while the music swells from a piano ballad into a grand, cinematic climax. I scare myself
My cover of I Scare Myself, inspired by Thomas Dolby’s haunting version of this classic song by Dan Hicks. I’ve been drawn to the tension and vulnerability in his interpretation — that mix of fear, emotion, and introspection. The challenge, set by Joe for the Weekly Song Challenge on Singeo.com, was to sing a song by Thomas Dolby — and this one immediately stood out to me. It truly pushed me to explore a different kind of expression. I hope you can feel the atmosphere and intensity that make this song so unique. (more…)
