Gods of the Dust is my second song. It was written for the Singeo Song Writing Challenge. This time, we had to write a song in a style we had never worked in before. I chose a reggae style because I find its rhythm fascinating — especially the emphasis on the second half of the beat. It’s about a locust, the last god of the swarm, grounded but still soaring in memory. I’ve written the music and the lyrics, and also performed the song. Hans did the production and the video. For the Weekly Song Challenge on Singeo, I chose Scarborough Fair (originally sung by Simon & Garfunkel). I recorded multiple vocal layers for it, as we also sing this song in harmony with our choir. The other participants in the challenge are free to choose any Simon & Garfunkel song. Hans took care of the production and created fitting visuals to turn it into a video. Enjoy!

My cover of Hello, Hello, I’m back again! for the Weekly Song Challenge on Singeo. Joe asked us to choose a song with “Hello” in the title. It’s a song by Gary Glitter from the seventies. After Hans heard my recording, he asked if I knew that Gary Glitter is in prison for Prince Andrew–like behavior. oops… I didn’t know.
I decided to stick with it anyway because I find the title quite fitting after my period of absence from my online singing group. It was fun to sing, really over the top, but quite challenging actually, because of the up-tempo pace and the fact that there’s no pause in it. (more…)
