My cover of Red Red Wine. The song was originally written and recorded by Neil Diamond in 1967. It expresses heartbreak and the desire to forget pain with the help of wine. It became truly famous in 1983 when UB40, a British reggae band, released their cover. UB40 transformed it into a laid-back reggae track, giving it a completely different vibe while keeping the theme of sorrow and escape. Their version became a global hit and is now the most widely known rendition of the song. I used their version, singing the lead voice and the harmony. I happened to discover the version where Astro adds a Jamaican-inspired toasting rap, and it inspired me to try that too at the end. Hans did the producing and the video as always. (It was Megan’s choice for the WSC).
