My cover of I Am… I Said by Neil Diamond (album Stones, 1971). It was Terri’s choice for our Song Challenge. The song is known for its introspective lyrics and emotional depth, reflecting themes of identity and self-discovery. Diamond has described it as one of his most autobiographical works, capturing the tension between his public persona and his inner self. It’s also been noted that the song touches on themes of loneliness and the human condition, resonating with listeners who feel caught between who they are and who the world expects them to be.
For my version, I recorded the chorus in multiple vocal layers and an echo. The backing track is a MIDI version edited by Hans, giving it a unique touch while staying true to the original. He also did made the video.
